Fun on Schooners

Sailing into the Sunset

Christine Barnes, Dundalk, Maryland
"We had a fun time on the Woodwind Facebook Fan Cruise. The weather was excellent. The captain and crew were very accommodating and fun. It wasn’t my first sail with you guys but it was theirs. We all plan to do it again. More “Fotojacking” opportunities on the horizon."

Tracy Gaines, Annapolis MD
"August 23, 2011, Brewers Cup at sunset with Annapolis backdrop. Heavy Seas wins! What an amazing time we had! It was so much more than I expected. It became a sailing adventure!!"

Mark Bandy, Annapolis, MD
"The Woodwinds are so beautiful, I always try and take pictures when I am out paddle boarding on the Severn River."

Wedding aboard Woodwind

Boy at Helm

Jessica and Geoff Hermanstorfer, Severna Park, MD
"The Woodwind II is an amazing setting for a wedding and was such a special venue (the Woodwind II and the Bay) for the three of us to become a family together. We chose to have our ceremony on the Woodwind II so it would be a treat for our guests to get to go sailing and experience the Chesapeake Bay.  Many of our guests have asked us to get married every year so they can go back out sailing and have cocktails on the Woodwind!  It truly was perfect!"
Enjoying Life Really sailing!
Bryn Metzdorf, Arlingotn, VA
"We had such a wonderful trip and I can't believe that it has been over a month already. We felt very lonely after we returned home. Meals with only four people seemed positively barren. We also had to adapt to our normal food. Jen, we missed your wonderful meals terribly. Jen, Ken, Jocelyn and Glenn, thank you so very much for hosting us on the trip of a lifetime. You made us feel so special. We are so fortunate that we found you."
Bay Bridge Family Sailing

The Paulsons, Urbana, Maryland
"We love sailing on the Woodwind and Woodwind II; It is part of our summer plans every year, especially when family comes from out of town.  The crew is always fun and professional and each sailing is a new adventure!

"Thoroughly enjoyed the Woodwind this was by far the best time we ever had in Annapolis. Looking forward to next year to make this an annual event. Thanks for the great time."
The McPartlands, Terryville, CT
"August 2011: Here my son is steering your boat with the captain. We live in Connecticut but spend two weeks a year at our family's summer house by the Chesapeake in Betterton. We boarded the ship with my parents and soon find out the captain is a retired school teacher from Connecticut right next to the town where my husband grew up. Small world. My son has many sailboats on a shelf in his room but never actually got to be on one until this day. We had my parents and daughter with us and it was a wonderful cruise and a great history lesson of the area. Watching the crew so easily move about with ease such a large boat was amazing.

When you walk in my son's room this hangs above his dresser which always reminds us of our trip...

One ship sails east another west
with the self same winds that blow.
Tis the set O' the sails and not the gales
which determines the way they go."

Michelle Long
"Mitch and I loved the two hour sail on August 20th with Captain Ken and crew. This picture is my favorite, it gives you that feeling of being excited and peaceful at the same time. We'll definitely be back for more sailing and probably look into one of your longer trips. I took the photo in the 4-6pm period so the sun was starting to cast long shadows. Thought it was a good one of Captain Ken. Really appreciated his beautiful and fun spirit. I should have realized when he said 'walk this way', that he was a Mel Brooks fan."

Denise, Peter and Clayton, Harrisburg, Pa
"All hands on deck with a heave-ho!! This is our son Clayton with Sarah, tightening the sails after we did a tack.  He can not stop talking about his sailing trip and is ready to bring all his friends the next time we come. We can not say enough about the wonderful crew!"

"OF THE 661 pictures we took last night during race night, here are my two favorites of the Woodwind.  We were aboard the Woodwind II. Our two children, ages 7 & 9 were also taking pictures last night with mom and dad, so we have no idea who actually took these pictures. We had the most wonderful time!"

"
My husband and I sailed with you on last Saturday evening's sunset cruise...we were with our dear friends who were celebrating their 25th anniversary.  We all had such a wonderful time!  Candidly, I was a bit apprehensive, having never sailed before and not knowing what to expect, but I will definitely be back!  We all will. Thanks again, so much, for a wonderful adventure."
Mike and Nicole O'Shea, Potomac Falls, VA
" We spent the weekend in Annapolis for our 5th wedding anniversary, our first time there.  We had a great trip and the sail on the Schooner Woodwind was a great time and something we will remember for a while.  It was ironic that the power was out in most of downtown that day, but all you really need to have an enjoyable afternoon is wind in your sails and some cold drinks (...and a cool green coozie)"

"We as well as our guests had an AMAZING time!! Everything ran very smoothly thanks to the planning and the CREW who were absolutely wonderful people! We had them all sign our boards (we had two mats to sign, one from the captain and crew with a great print of the Schooner and one we brought of our own which was a map of Annapolis).  The food was very very tasty and is still getting good reviews."

"Cassie Olson and her brother Ethan are at the wheel, on a beautiful Sunday afternoon in May.  We had great wind and were really moving.  Their grandmother is from Maryland, and their great-grandfather was the last lighthouse keeper of the Hooper's Strait light.  I have always loved the Chesapeake bay, and have taken my husband and children there as often as possible.  Nothing beats seeing it from the deck of a sailboat!"

"Welcome to Annapolis, MD, where you will always see one of the best sailing cruises in the world, the mighty fine WOODWIND II. (see photo) Woodwind takes people out on day sails from the Marriott docks and this photo was taken as we sailing into Annapolis MD and Woodwind was sailing out. Someday I hope to be a crew member and work as a deck hand on this sailing vessel. That would be a great summer job!"
