Policies for the Schooner Woodwind

General Policy:

We sail rain or shine.

We begin boarding 15 minutes before the departure time.  Please arrive early and check in at the Dock Office.

Please wear rubber soled shoes.

Smoking is prohibited on public cruises.

Only working service dogs are permitted aboard.

We have a cash bar with local microbrews, wine and bubbly.  By law, no alcohol can be brought aboard or removed from the vessel.

For Weekday Sunset Sails: If the scheduled entertainment cannot perform for any reason we will continue to sail the scheduled public cruise. No adjustments will be made to the price since our crew will do our very best to make the cruise enjoyable without the scheduled entertainment.

For Wednesday Night Races (5:30 Departure Time): Schooner Woodwind will depart promptly at 5:30 PM, however our starting time for the race is 6:45.  We will be racing a fairly short course and there is a strong possibility that we will get back to the dock after 7:30 PM.  This is bonus time so that we can finish the race.  We will return to the dock no later than 8:00 PM. Schooner Woodwind will still depart even if the races have been cancelled by the yacht club, but the Captain has deemed the conditions safe to sail.

For Wednesday Night Races (6:25 Departure Time): Schooner Woodwind will depart promptly at 6:25 PM, because our starting time for the race is 6:45.  We must get to the starting line on time.  Schooner Woodwind will still depart even if the races have been cancelled by the yacht club, but the Captain has deemed the conditions safe to sail.

Parking Policy:

Please allow plenty of time for traffic and parking.  Annapolis, Maryland is a historic town with small streets and limited parking.  Please allow plenty of time to get downtown and to find parking.

---During October, there are two large Boat Shows that take away our normal dock space. During this time we depart from the Annapolis City Marina for all special event cruises, and from the Sailboat Show docks for all the public cruises. Please click here for more information.

Cancellation Policy:

There are no refunds or exchanges on ticket purchases unless the Captain cancels the cruise due to unsafe conditions.

The boat leaves on time, you will not be refunded if you miss the boat.

Child (under 35 lbs.) Life jacket Policy:

For children under 35 lbs.; you are required to provide a suitable life jacket of proper size and fit and you will be required to sign a waiver relating to this.

The United States Coast Guard requires all certified vessels to carry only Type I life jackets, which are limited to passenger weights of 35 lbs. or greater.

No child under 35 lbs. will be allowed to board Woodwind or Woodwind II without a life jacket. 

Check-In:

Please check in at the Schooner Woodwind Ticket Office, located on the waterside of the Annapolis Marriott Waterfront Hotel & Pusser’s Caribbean Grille. 

You will receive your tickets and be directed to the boarding area for Woodwind or Woodwind II.

Expectations:

Schooner Woodwind aims to provide you with the most unique and authentic sailing experience on the Chesapeake Bay.  Due to the various weather conditions, wind speed, and wind direction, we have no set course and each sailing cruise is unique.  In the same day it is possible for us to be drifting in the lightest of breezes and hours later we may have the boat at a 35° angle with waves coming across the bow.  These varied conditions are part of the adventure of sailing.  This variety along with our great Captains and crew is why many people return and many friends have been made aboard our boats.

Wind is our power, sun is our warmth, and rain can be refreshing.  Please be prepared for the weather conditions of the day.
